What Month is This?!–aka The November Newsletter

November 3, 2023

Hey!

It’s November! I have to keep telling myself that because I tend to forget (or is it denial?) that Thanksgiving and Christmas are waving their hands at me like castaways trying to be discovered. It just shouldn’t be the end of the year. And yet…

But, before I say goodbye to October, I have to review all the fantastic things that occurred. As promised, here are a few pictures of Mom’s and my “60-80” trip to Provence (if you didn’t read last month’s newsletter, go here to catch up).

France Cassis
Everywhere you turn, the view is spectacular. Mom and I enjoyed relaxing in Cezanne's garden, loved walking under the magnificent Plain trees, oggled all the fabulous doors, traversed the cobblestone streets and narrow passages, took a boat ride in Cassis, and strolled through ancient gardens.

So Much!

October was chockfull of book events too. I met in person and virtually with several book clubs–including two book clubs I started (they really didn’t get a choice as to whether I’d meet with them! lol). One of the book clubs is sponsored by the McCracken County Library and is called “Fit Lit.” We met at the library and walked around downtown and Lowertown Paducah as we discussed Toward the Corner of Mercy and Peace. Isn’t that a terrific idea for a book club?

I also got to attend the Kentucky Book Festival in Lexington as an author. There I got to rub shoulders with two of the Kentucky literary “greats”–Silas House and Bobbie Ann Mason. Plus, I got to meet a whole host of authors and book lovers. It was a wonderful experience.

Coming Up!

And that brings us to November. This month promises to deliver a whole new batch of blessings. I’ve got a couple of groups I’m meeting with to talk about Toward the Corner of Mercy and Peace, and I’m looking forward to that.

And, this is our year to have our kids’ families visit us for Thanksgiving. Since we won’t get to celebrate Christmas together and since several of our family have November and December birthdays, I invented Thanksmasbirthday. We’ll celebrate Thanksgiving on Thursday, birthdays on Friday, and have a Christmas brunch on Saturday. It’s going to be AMAZING!! I’m sooo excited!

What do you have coming up in November? I’d love to know! I always need fresh ideas for yummy meals to prepare, fun projects I can do with the grands, and–of course–I need to know what you’re reading! Please leave a comment!!

P.S.
