Simple Ideas to Guarantee a Fabulous Fall Kick-off

August 30, 2022

I know some of you are chomping at the bit to get to Fall while some of you are holding off until the Summer season closes, albeit unofficially, on Labor Day. I fall somewhere in the middle. I’m over wearing my summer clothes, don’t decorate for fall until after Labor Day, and am just starting to think that I’m going to make my first pot of soup!

Today I’m including a potpourri of Fallish decorations, clothes, and recipes. Enjoy perusing and finding a fun idea or two…

My friend Kelly (Remember? click here!) has a knack for setting a glorious table. Check out these pumpkins and these stunning painted candles or these twisted (so cool!) candles to add autumnal highlights to your table. Notice the cute owls she stuck in corks. So much personality!

For some more ideas for indoor decorating check out these darling pumpkins with graphic patterns. Love them! And here’s a link to some cute glass pumpkins (that light up and give a warm glow to wherever you put them). And these Mackenzie Childs black and white pumpkins. They kick pumpkin decor up to a  new level!

I love decorating our front porch for fall! Utilize ALL the fall stuff–gourds, pumpkins, greenery, mums–bring it on! Here are some fabulous autumn wreaths…

  1. This wreath from Wayfair is its own fall festival!
  2. A simple, understated wreath of dried grass and rope from Target
  3. Gorgeous magnolia wreath from Grandin Road.
  4. I LOVE this metal wreath from Pottery Barn.

Transition Outfits

Jumpsuits are going to be popular again this fall. You can give them completely different looks with the accessories you put with them. Lightweight dusters in fall colors are cool but seasonal. A cropped leather jacket tops off short sleeves for the evenings that hold a little chill.

Yummers

I tend to make heartier, warmer, richer food in the cool months. But since my mouth is watering for a taste of fall, but it’s still hot outside, I’m trying out some new, lighter fall fare. Let’s start with dessert and work backwards (Cuz you know I’m a fan of National Eat Dessert First Month!!)

Caramel Apple Dump Cake–super easy and sure to please!
Visit my friend Leslie’s blog to snag this Sweet Potato Turkey Chili.
And for an autumnal twist to salad, I love roasted beets and goat cheese.
Finally, here’s an easy and  yummy fall snack mix that you’re going to make again and again.

So, there you go–Fall’s bounty awaits!

This blog made me ready to jump into fall….get out my pumpkins, buy mums, wear a sweater (or at least order a new one) and make an apple cake. Now if the weather would just cooperate! Thanks for all the great inspiring ideas!

    • I’m with you! But our September forecast doesn’t sound too encouraging in the sweater weather department! Let’s wear ’em anyway!!
