How I Love Details: More Glimpses Inside My Parents’ Home
August 9, 2022
I’m usually not a detail person but when it comes to the home I’m all about them. Details are the jewelry, the accessories that make a home yours. These things are part of your story. At least I hope they are–a bunch of stuff that has no meaning isn’t worth having to dust!
Today, I’m giving you a few peeks at the details at my neighbors’ home…aka Mom and Dad!
One of their guest bedrooms is just asking for it–a guest, that is! I think it’s so inviting and soothing. I especially love the cute footstools that serve as convenient seating at the foot of the bed.
Mom’s painting is gorgeous too!
A Fabulous Punch
It’s hard to take a good pic of a small space. I’ve tried to show you the best of their guest bathroom with the photos above. Mom and I found the fabulous wallpaper at LuLu’s in Murray. It adds such a punch to this jewel of a room. After the wallpaper was up Mom painted flowers from her garden to compliment it. We found that exquisite dish at Raven and Moth. It’s just perfect.
Watercolor Wallpaper
Their personal bathroom is lovely and serene thanks to the continuation of soft blues and greens. I love the wallpaper in here too. It reminds me of Mom’s watercolors (she’s working on a new one for this room). And, can you believe she found that lidded jar/vase at Hobby Lobby?! It looks like it was planned to be coordinated with the wallpaper. Nope, just luck…TIP: keep your eyes open everywhere you shop, especially for your favorite colors. You’ll end up with accessories that complement your home without even planning!
You can see more of their home here and here. And here’s a bit more about my mom, of whom I am just so proud!
Hope you find some inspiration here. Let me know if you have any questions!
This is the best!!!!! Probably because it takes me down memory lane having had the privilege of spending time there with Maury and Karen. The outside must be next. I only saw the beginning of the landscaping. Keep your camera handy!

Beautiful! You had me at the dust comment. To begin again with fresh ideas that bring new paintings to life is amazing. How wonderful.
