Here’s What I’m Wearing: Casual Fall Outfits That Can Do Double-Duty

October 18, 2021

I love change and variety. No question about it! Maybe that’s why I love Fall so much–changing leaves and a variety of weather. Okay, maybe I’m not such a fan of variety in weather.

Anyway.

I like change and variety in my wardrobe, too. But, I’m realistic. I can’t throw out my wardrobe every season just for change and variety. So, I compromise…a couple of new pieces that give me a fresh feeling and that can be worn in different ways and a couple of updated accessories.

And since I’m a writer, which means I sit in front of the computer all day, I want the pieces to be comfortable as well as versatile. Here’s what I mean…I like an outfit that I can throw a jacket or scarf on and it’s instantly kicked up a notch if somebody happens to call me to go to lunch. (I’m not so dedicated to writing that I don’t eat–especially OUT!)

Here’s my secret formula: a touch of trend + a splash of variety + a dash of comfort = winning combos!

First up: COMFORT!

I found this loose-fitting sweatshirt in one of my favorite shops in Birmingham, The Pink Tulip.

It’s comfy cozy and I love the goldish yellow color. It reminds me of the glorious ginko tree.

And, it’s easy to dress it up with a scarf and leggings. These leggings from H&M have concealed zippers at the ankle so you get two looks for one. They are a great quality, nice weight, and only $35! I am seriously thinking about ordering another pair in gray. I wish they came in more colors.

I’ve had this scarf forever. Here’s a fun You Tube video with different ways to tie scarves.

Leather Luxe

One of the biggest trends for Fall 2021 is leather. I almost always default to black, but when I found this navy leather jacket, my heart did a little flip-flop. Could it be? A color as versatile as black, that’s NOT black?! Yes! Plus, it’s a  smidge dressier than a denim jacket and can do as many things.

The Exclamation Point!

You know how I love a good exclamation point!! Well, none other than designer Michael Kors does, too. He says,

“I’ve always thought of accessories as
the exclamation point of a woman’s outfit.”

I like that!

This year, I found a crossbody purse that ticks two important boxes for this season’s trends: woven detail and chunky chains. I love the suede look and easy-on-the-neck-and-shoulders size! I’ve got big purses, but they can get a little too full, you know?

My other trendy addition is this pair of booties with the chunky sole. The sole is just chunky enough to have a 2021 look, but not so chunky that your eye goes straight to the feet. Here’s a link to them.

So, that’s what I’m wearing right now. Pop back later this week to see more.
