I know I promised this a long time ago, but don’t ever let it be said that I don’t (eventually) keep my promises! It may have taken some time, but here it is…A peek inside my parents’ new house!
With Mom and Dad happily situated right next door to us, you’d think it would have been faster than this to deliver. But, as I’m sure you well know, life happens!
Anyway, my brother, a fabulous amateur photographer, took some beautiful shots for me. He’s anxious to take some more when he gets his wide-angle lens, so stay tuned. I hope he doesn’t mind that I’ve slipped a couple pics in that I took (I’m sure you’ll be able to distinguish the quality! LOL)
For now, here are some vignettes, starting with their living area. Tulie, their beloved Shih tzu, couldn’t help herself. She had to get in on the action!
Mom’s art studio is the first room on the left when you walk in. On their house plans it’s a dining room. But, I ask you, wouldn’t you want your art studio in the room with the best light?? Of course you would!
Lots of walkers in our neighborhood enjoy taking a peek through their front windows to see Mom’s paintings. Some have even rung the doorbell to get a better look! She does do amazing work.
One of my favorite rooms is their kitchen. They have a custom-made dining room table built by woodworker Blair Wrye. Check out his website here: Blair Wrye Designs. He does beautiful work! This table is called The Dodson, which is my parents’ last name.
I love the light fixture in this room too! In fact they have several light fixtures and fans that hang from interesting ceilings. Yes, I said interesting ceilings. What, you may ask, is an interesting ceiling? Well…There’s a beveled ceiling, a tray ceiling, and some painted ceilings. I believe you call the ceiling the fifth wall of a room, and they did not neglect them!
That’s it for now. I’ll be back with pictures of their kitchen, sitting room, bathroom (gorgeous shower!), and a bedroom or two. And I can’t wait to show you their beautiful landscaping.
But, don’t hold your breath…I promise to be back with more, but I can’t say when. And I’d hate for you to pass out!
P.S. What do you like the best of what I’ve shown you today?
