Let’s Turn On the Color Whether It’s Spring or Not

March 1, 2022

By this time of year I am so over wearing anything black! Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still slip into my comfy black leggings. But I neeeeed color!

And since it’s still chilly, I need a coat. But NOT my black one. I found these two colorful gems at T.J. Maxx–one a couple of years ago and the other just a few weeks ago.

They give me that pop of spring color I’m desperate for. And, even though they are distinctive colors, they are so versatile.

Spring-a-ding-a-ling!

Anything coral makes me happy every time I put it on, and I think it’s universally flattering.

Since this time of year the temps are all over the place, it’s nice to wear layers. Above, I paired the coat with a coral-striped button down from H&M and white skinny jeans from Soft Surroundings. Of course, you could also wear white “jean-ish” leggings like these from Spanx.

Or, you can use the coat to brighten up the standard black and white, like I did below. With this combo, I can tolerate the black! Of course, a leopard scarf goes with anything. Right?

Keeping My Options Bright

Below I’m wearing my latest brightly-colored spring coat. It’s fuchsia! I love this scarf thrown over the shoulder because it’s an added layer of warmth and interest.

But, if you’re tired of scarves, try adding a collection of pins. These are all antique pins I got from my aunt and great-grandmother. Both of these ladies loved to accessorize. I love to think of them whenever I wear their jewelry.

Other options: Wear the pink coat with a bright red top like this Chico’s button down. And under the coral coat you could wear  a yellow blouse like this one from Ann Taylor. Or this cute Clip Dot Henley blouse…Or a feminine lavender top like this one from LOFT. FUN!
