C’mon! It’s Time To Fall Into A “Fresh” Faux Fix

September 20, 2021

It has to happen. Summer has to end.

As of Wednesday, we’ll be celebratin’ Fall y’all!

I’m all in. As I may have mentioned—it’s my favorite season. About the only thing I don’t like about it (besides the fact that it ushers in winter…bleh) is pumpkin spiced coffee. Now, don’t go getting all riled up if you happen to love pumpkin coffee. It’s just a preference. Not a religion. Chill.

Yes, come to think of it…chill. That’s what I like most about autumn—that cool air that zips a zing into my step in the mornings. And encourages me to curl up with a good book, a just-the-right-weight blanket, and a cup of coffee (sans pumpkin spice) in the evenings.

Time for an Update!

I realized my fall decorations needed a bit of a refresh when I pulled them out of storage and they said, “Sorry. We’re done.”

Not one to be put off by the bad attitudes of faux flowers, I headed right out to gather the goods.

This year I’m into soft buttery yellows, peaches, and rusts. I’m just not in the mood for vivid reds and oranges—not that there’s anything wrong with that. Remember. We’re talking preferences, not absolute rights and wrongs, which do exist, just not in the faux flower aisle.

No, I take that back, there are some definite rights and wrongs on that aisle. Not that I’m going to call anybody out. You know who you are. Or maybe you don’t. Still. I’m willing and able to keep my opinions to myself. Usually.

Anyhow…

The only thing I used from years past was this basket full of pumpkins, which I bought at Pier One a few years ago. They have similar ones here.

I added some rustic, green balls and sunflowers that originally lived in another container. As it gets closer to Thanksgiving, I’ll probably take out the sunflowers and add some faux grasses and magnolia leaves.

On our kitchen island, I added pumpkin plates. (See? I’m not opposed to pumpkins at all! Only when they try to get in my coffee. OK. I may have belabored that enough.) And I changed out the napkins.

Which version of my autumn place setting do you prefer? The more casual woven straw mat with a piece of wired ribbon tied around the napkin or the one to the right?

 Here’s the rundown:

“Fresh” Arrangements

Then I had some real fun putting together arrangements with the “new kids.” I used faux dried sunflowers in rust and butter yellow and a couple of different faux grasses. I love the comfy casual fall vibe!

Where Can I Get Those Fabulous Faux Stems?

Glad you asked! I found everything I needed at Hobby Lobby. Just click on the links below:

Dried sunflowers
Wheat grass
Burnt orange grass
Similar pods

Simple as that I’m ready for fall! Well, almost…I have a few more tricks up my sleeve. Come on back next Monday for a look at other fall touches that are simple but pack a punch!

But before you go, I really need to know something…

Do you prefer your coffee with or without a pumpkin spice??
