I see you…You, the one who adores sequins and velvet and loves going to parties during the holidays. And you, the one who puts on stretchy pants and a red sweatshirt, calls it a Christmas outfit, and prefers to stay at home watching Hallmark Christmas movies the entire month.
No matter where you fall on the holiday “social” scale, we all have to put something on our bodies. Or, risk being reported for indecent exposure, not to mention being awfully cold.
Admittedly, I lean toward stretchy pants with tunics, but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate sparkles. Whatever your style M.O., I’ve got some fun ideas for festivewear (I just made that word up. You can do that when you write your own copy and nobody edits you).
Sparkle and Shine
I have friends who excel at looking elegant. They can wear what I call “fancy” clothes with aplomb (don’t you love that word?) Here are some beautiful dresses to wear when you want to dress up (a.k.a. put your sweats back on the shelf).
- How about this gorgeous velvet and sequin dress from Chico’s? It ticks all the right boxes for a style-infused outfit.
- Or this stunning red dress from Tuckernuck.
- And you can’t go wrong with this anything-but-basic black dress from Anthropologie.
Not Too Dressy But Not Too Casual
- Velvet blazers are so popular this year. And hot pink is definitely making its statement. So, how about the best of both with this pink velvet oversized blazer from Banana Republic?
- And if a dash of sequins is more your style, try on this snappy buttondown from Anthropologie with a pair of jeans or your favorite black pants.
- Here’s a beautiful plaid option for you–a blackwatch french-cuff top from Tuckernuck.
Comfy, Cozy, Casual
I tend to land in this category most of the time. I’m a writer who sits in front of a computer all day. I need to keep it comfortable. On the other hand, if I need to dash out for an errand, I don’t want to look like I just rolled out of bed. Here are some ideas for keeping it comfy ’round the Christmas tree.
- This chunky sweater is in my shopping basket (hint-hint). Updated Full disclosure: I found this brand locally at McClaran Manor when I was shopping on Small Business Saturday. I LOVE this comfy, super-soft, all-winter-long sweater so much!
- Oh, and this one from Sundance too! It’s an all-round winter sweater that you can keep wearing after Santa’s headed home.
- And I think I will live in this dress or this tunic from Soft Surroundings. A pair of warm leggings will make it the ultimate comfy outfit.
You’re Welcome…
So, there you go–something for everyone! I’ve done the heavy lifting of shopping online. You can just click buttons and watch it show up on your front porch!
But before you go please answer this: If dressy is a 10 and casual is a 1, where would you fall?
